James "Jim" Isaac (June 5, 1960 – May 6, 2012) was an American film director and visual effects supervisor.[1] He is most well known for directing Jason X and Skinwalkers.[2]
Career
James Isaac got his start in the film business as a creature technician on Return of the Jedi. He frequently collaborated with Chris Walas on special effects, being directly involved with Walas' team on Gremlins, Enemy Mine, and The Fly. With The Fly, Isaac also started a regular association with David Cronenberg, who brought Isaac on again for Naked Lunch and eXistenZ.
Isaac's work for Sean S. Cunningham on House II: The Second Story and DeepStar Six led to Isaac's first turn at helming a feature when he served as a replacement director on The Horror Show.[3]
It would be more than 10 years later when Cunningham would subsequently hire Isaac to direct the 10th installment of the Friday the 13th franchise - Jason X.
Isaac later directed Skinwalkers, an action movie with a plot based on werewolves, and the monster movie Pig Hunt.
Death
Isaac died of multiple myeloma on May 6, 2012.[4]
