Janine Perrett is an Australian financial journalist and commentator, who currently serves as a television presenter for Sky News Australia and Sky News Business.[2]
Perrett began working for The Australian newspaper in 1979, in a variety of roles at the paper's Melbourne, Sydney, London and New York offices. In 1989, Perrett worked as a news editor The Sydney Morning Herald before moving to television as a reporter for the Nine Network's Business Sunday.[3]
From 1994 to 2002, Perrett presented Nine's The Small Business Show until it was axed.[4][5]
Perrett was awarded the John S. Knight Journalism Fellowship from Stanford University in California to study journalism.[1]
In May 2010, Perrett joined Sky News Business to host a nightly program The Perrett Report.[6] Perrett has appeared as a panelist across numerous Sky News programs, including weekly appearances on Paul Murray Live.[3] Perrett also serves as substitute host of Paul Murray Live.[4] Ahead of the 2013 Australian federal election, Perrett was the host of the short run series Saturday Live, a spin-off of Friday Live hosted by Chris Kenny.[7]
From 10 April 2015, Perrett was made host of new weekly format The Friday Show on Sky News, which abruptly replaced the axed program Keneally and Cameron.[8] She is also a panelist on The Last Word.
Perrett was the Australia Day ambassador for Dubbo, New South Wales in 2015.[9]
Saturday Live returned again on 30 April 2016, ahead of the 2016 federal election,[10] also joined by new format Sunday Live which Perrett will also present.[11][12] A segment from Saturday Live was extended to its own program, titled So You Want To Be A Politician? in which Perrett interviews minor party and independent candidates hoping to be elected.[13]
