Jasmar Cassar

Jasmar Cassar (born 14 October 1998) is a Maltese singer from Pietà Malta. He was raised in Marsa, and performed music in Malta and in Italy.

Early life

Cassar skipped most of his school years but later in life completed post-secondary at GEM16+.[1]

Career

Jasmar started singing when he was 7 years old.

In 2008, Cassar competed in Malta's Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2008 with his Maltese song Id-Dinja Tieghi. In 2010, he competed in Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2010 for the second time with his ballad-pop track My Star where he finished in ninth place.

In 2013, Cassar competed in the Italian festivals Sanremo Doc. and was placed second. In that same year, Jasmar also competed in the Maltese festival Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza with the song Muzika. The song was written by Minik and Rita Pace.[2]

In 2014, he won the Singer/Songwriter category in an Italian festival Il-Cantagiro with his song Ti Amo, I Love You. The song was written by Matt Muxu Mercieca, Jasmar Cassar and Elton Zarb. In 2015, Cassar competed with an original song Qalbien in a Maltese Festival with the group L-Ilhna , organised by Erseb Productions, were the group placed first winning the festival.[3]

Cassar released his first official single Just Be on September 2, 2015. Just Be was composed by Jasmar Cassar, written by Matt Muxu Mercieca, mixed and mastered by Cyprian Cassar.[3][4]

On June 10, 2016, Cassar released his award-winning[5] second single When Love Comes Around which he composed himself - accompanied by a music video which he also directed and produced.[6]

In July 2016, together with his sister Shyli and K13, Cassar competed in the Semi-Final of L-Għanja tal-Poplu,[7] where they competed with a hip-hop song named Tama (hope).[8][9]

On his 18th birthday (14 October 2016), Cassar released his brand new single On The Run. Cassar's single is spending its 4th week on the MVTV's Top 20, reaching its highest spot #11 on the 13th of November.[10]
