Jean-Baptiste Troppman

Jean-Baptiste Troppmann was a French spree killer born in 1848 and executed on January 19, 1870.^[1]^[2]

His crimes are referenced in Mikhail Bakunin's book God and the State,^[3] and his execution was witnessed and written about by Ivan Turgenev.^[2]^[4] A reference is made to him in Hopscotch by Julio Cortázar.
