Jewar is a city and a nagar panchayat in Gautam Buddha Nagar District in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.
Location
Jewar is located in the suburbs of Greater Noida about 60 km. from Noida,40 km from Greater Noida, 33 km from Gautam Buddha University and 35 km. from Khair. It is situated on the northeast bank of the Yamuna River. It is located between 28.13° North latitude and 77.55° East longitude at a height of 195 metres (639 feet) above mean sea level.
Overview
History records that the town was named after the sage Maharshi Jaawali. In the west of Jewar at a distance of 1 km. is an ashram and an old temple of the Maharshi. Other temples in the town is the Devi Mandir and the Daau ji Mandir famous for the Dau ji Mela held every year in the month of September.
According to the Indian census report published in 2001, a population of 32,269 was recorded of which 17,188 are males while 15,081 are females as per report released by Census India 2011. In Jewar, 15.79% of the population is less than six years of age. Literacy rate of Jewar city is 66.92% lower than state average of 67.68%. In Jewar, Male literacy is around 75.95% while female literacy rate is 56.68%.
It is located in the outskirts of Greater Noida,[1] the district headquarters are located in New Okhla Industrial Development Authority (Noida) itself. It is about 35 km (22 mi) away from Noida, and one can come via Dankaur, Rabupura. An eight-lane Yamuna Expressway connects Jewar from Greater Noida and Agra. This whole district including Noida/Greater Noida is said to be one of the most fast developing areas of India.
Before relignment of Jewar to Gautam Budh Nagar, it was part of Bulandshahr district of U.P.
Connectivity
Jewar is mainly connected to other Major sites through roads and rail network. People commute to Delhi by rail from Palwal, Khurja and Vear. Khurja is around 35 km from Jewar and Palwal is around 28 km away. Palwal is city of Haryana, Initially part of Faridabad district but from 2008, Palwal is a separate district. Some state bus also run 2 times a day to Greater Noida District center. Jewar is a very precious town and its property rates is very high.Here normal property rates are starting from 6000 to 20000 per square yards. In the west is Haryana state. Jewar itself is a Tehsil, and well connected to many tehsils and districts by road namely Khurja, Sikandrabad, Bulandshahr, Khair, Aligarh and Palwal (District - Faridabad in Haryana). Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) planning to build a monorail project connecting Noida to Agra with monorail (yet not confirmed). Aviation minister Dr. Mahesh Sharma planning to connect NCR with other international cities via building an airport at Jewar (originally this was the idea on Rajnath Singh-CM in 2001).
Facilities
Jewar is not a big city but it is connected to other big cities like Noida, Agra, Bulandshahr etc. Jewar owned some hospitals like Kailash Hospital, KM jain Hospital, DJIMS, Gupta Nursing Home etc. which provides a great clinical help to patients. There are senior secondary schools in jewar but lacking of graduate level education. Gautam Budh University and many other colleges in Greater Noida provide great help in terms of education. Jewar has its own main market. Market has huge crowd from near by villages and local people.
