Jill Michelle Dillard (née Duggar; born May 17, 1991)[1] is an American television personality. She is known for her appearances on Discovery Health Channel and TLC as part of the reality television show 19 Kids and Counting (2008 2015), which focused on the life of the Duggar family, and reality television show Jill And Jessa: Counting On (2016 present), a sitcom that focuses on the lives of the older Duggar children (excluding Josh). She is the second daughter born to Jim Bob Duggar and Michelle (Ruark) Duggar, and the fourth of nineteen children overall.[2]

Career

Books

Duggar co-wrote the book Growing Up Duggar published by Howard Books with her sisters Jana, Jessa and Jinger.[3] It was released on March 4, 2014. The book shares an inside look at what it is like to be a Duggar child as they talk about their parents' faith and perspectives on life.

Certified Professional Midwife (CPM)

On September 15, 2015, Duggar officially became a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) after several years of study and professional apprenticeship.[4]

Marriage and family

Duggar is married to Derick Dillard. He is a graduate of Oklahoma State University–Stillwater where he was the mascot Pistol Pete (Oklahoma State University).[5] He graduated with a degree in accounting and worked as a Walmart tax accountant until June 2015.[6] The couple wed on June 21, 2014 in front of over 1,000 guests in Springdale, Arkansas. Jill was the second out of the nine Duggar daughters to start courting, the first daughter to marry and the second child overall to marry.

On August 20, 2014, Duggar announced that she was pregnant with the couple’s first child, a boy, whose due date was March 24, 2015. She stated in an interview with People Magazine that she expected the baby to arrive late, stating her 'second due date' as April 5.[7] On April 6, after 70 hours of labor, the couple welcomed their son (by C-section), Israel David Dillard, weighing in at 9 lbs., 10 oz. and 23" long.[8] Just as Jill's parents, she and Derick don't plan on using birth control, subsequently welcoming as many children as "God wants to give them".

In 2015, the Dillard family relocated to Central America to serve as missionaries with S.O.S. Ministries. Ten months later they came back to the United States .[9][10]

Molestation victim

In June 2015 on The Kelly File, Duggar identified herself as one of the girls who her oldest brother Joshua Duggar had molested as a teen. Duggar reported the abuse consisted of inappropriate touching while she was asleep, saying she did not know it had occurred until her brother confessed to her parents, and her parents then told her what had occurred. Jill stated on the The Kelly File that the release of the police reports was a "revictimization", and she expressed concern that the police reports detailing her abuse being made public might discourage other families experiencing abuse from seeking help.[11][12][13]
