Jim Leahy (born April 27, 1962 in Milford, Connecticut) is a former American collegiate soccer goalkeeper who is the founder and president of Leahy Management Group. He was the 1984 ISAA Goalkeeper of the Year.
Soccer
Leahy attended Brandeis University from 1980 to 1985. While at Brandeis, he was a four year starter at goalkeeper for the men’s soccer team. In 1984, his senior season, his Judges lost in triple sudden death overtime to Wheaton College in the NCAA Division III national finals. He was selected as the ISAA Goalkeeper of the Year and chosen to play in the Senior Bowl, where he earned Defensive Player of the Game honors. Leahy holds numerous Brandeis records including a career shutouts (41) and single season shutouts (14). When Leahy graduated from Brandeis, he elected not to pursue a professional soccer career. Instead, he took the Assistant Head Coach position for the Men's Soccer Team at Clemson University. After one season at Clemson, Leahy began his career as an advocate for non-profit organizations.
While Leahy pursued his advocacy career, he maintained contact with soccer through youth coaching. That has included time as the head coach of Tolland High School’s boys soccer team and several teams at Northeast United Premier, as technical director for the Tolland Soccer Club, and as a staff coach for the CT Junior Soccer Association.
In 2008, after a 12 year absence, Leahy rejoined Tolland High School as the head coach of the Boys varsity team and coached for 8 seasons. In 2009, his Eagles went 19-0-1 to win Tolland's first-ever state championship in Boys Soccer. In 2015, his Eagles won their 2nd state championship, finishing at 18-3-1. Leahy retired from high school coaching after ten seasons with a career mark of 121-48-17 (.696). He holds a US Youth National License and a US Soccer National "D" license. Leahy is also a member of the Connecticut Soccer Coaches Association Executive Board.
Leahy was elected to the Brandeis Athletics Hall of Fame in 1997 and served as President of the Friends of Brandeis Athletics from 2002 until 2014.
