John Marlin (Texas)

John Marlin was a Texian patriot and the namesake of Marlin, Texas. John was granted a league of land east of the Brazos River in 1835 and started a settlement later honored on his behalf years after being killed in Indian attacks.[1] Marlin's son-in-law, Samuel Blain, laid out the streets and lots of the town.[2] John Marlin's wife was Mary Menefee Marlin. John and Mary returned to Bucksnort by 1837, near Fort [3]Milam, along with the Morgan family.
