Jon Murphy (police officer)
Sir Jonathan Michael Murphy, QPM, is a senior British police officer. He is the Chief Constable of Merseyside Police. He has previously served as Deputy Chief Constable and a member of Association of Chief Police Officers.
Early life and education
He studied for a BA (Hons) in Law at Liverpool University.[1] In 2001, he earned a diploma in Applied Criminology from Cambridge University (Fitzwilliam College).[2][3]
Police career
In January 1975, Murphy joined Merseyside Police.[4]
Honours
Murphy has been commended on fourteen occasions and was awarded the Queen's Police Medal in the 2007 Birthday Honours.[5] He was knighted in the 2014 Birthday Honours for services to policing.[6]
