Jonathan B. Holder (born June 9, 1993) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the New York Yankees of Major League Baseball (MLB).
Career
Holder played college baseball at Mississippi State University from 2012 to 2014.[1][2] During his career he had a 11–2 record, 1.59 earned run average (ERA), 191 strikeouts and a school record 37 saves.[3]
Holder was drafted by the New York Yankees in the sixth round of the 2014 Major League Baseball draft.[4] After pitching in relief in college, the Yankees converted him into a starting pitcher. He made his professional debut with the Gulf Coast Yankees and later played for the Staten Island Yankees. He started 2015 with the Tampa Yankees.
The Yankees promoted Holder to the major leagues on September 2, 2016.[5]
His first major league strikeout came against Orioles CF Adam Jones, striking him out on 3 pitches after quickly going ahead 0-2.
