Jonathan Pines is an American music producer and recording engineer who is currently based in Urbana, Illinois.[1] Jonathan has been making records for 35 years and has owned and run his Private Studios Facility since 1981. With over 15 million records sold, he has recorded a diverse group of successful artists including Adrian Belew, Eminem, Wilco, Alison Krauss, I Fight Dragons, Gin Blossoms, and Luther Ingram.
Engineering career
Jonathan began recording in independently throughout the midwest in the mid 70s. He studied at the Experimental Music Studios at University of Illinois. In the early 80s, he was Chief Recording Engineer at both BPS Studios in Bondville, IL and Creative Audio in Urbana, IL. In 1985 he founded Private Studios which still owns and operates.
Other work
Outside of Engineering, Jonathan is heavily involved in audio manufacturing. He has been a consultant for Harmon, Amek, Alesis, and many others. Since 2010, he has been the Director of Strategic Operations for Rupert Neve Designs and Fingerprint Audio where he as worked closely with Rupert Neve.[2] He is also a member and frequent speaker at AES conventions and other audio industry events.
