Joseph S. Curtis

Joseph Seaver Curtis (June 8, 1831 – May 15, 1878) was an American politician and lawyer.

Born in Warren, Ohio,[1] Curtis graduated from Williams College. He moved to Green Bay, Wisconsin in 1852[2] or 1859[1] and practiced law.[1] During the American Civil War, Curis served as a private in the 12th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry Regiment[1][2] and a lieutenant in the 42nd Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry Regiment.[2] He was the editor of the Green Bay Gazette.[2] In 1869, 1871, and 1873, Curtis served in the Wisconsin State Assembly[1][2] and was a Republican. He campaigned for the Wisconsin State Senate in 1873 but lost to John Milton Read.[2] He died at his home in Green Bay, Wisconsin on May 15, 1878.[1][3][4]
