Julius Reinhold Friedlander

Julius Reinhold Friedlander (1803–1839) was the first superintendent of the Overbrook School for the Blind (Originally known as the Pennsylvania Institution for the Instruction of the Blind) in 1832.[1] He died on March 17, 1839 at the school that he founded after being the principal for only six years.[2]

Biography

He was born in 1803. He fought for Greek independence from Turkey and in 1832 he became the first superintendent of the Overbrook School for the Blind.[3] He died in 1839.

J.R.Friedlander has authored the Book of Ruth and the Book of Proverbs, both along with Samuel Gridley Howe printed at the Pennsylvania Institution for the Instruction of the Blind, 1838.[4][5]
