KSS Design Group

KSS is a design group founded in 1991. The company specializes in architecture, interior design, branding and graphics. The architectural practice is named after David Keirle, Andy Simons and Martin Salter.

KSS are one of the leading stadium architects and education specialists with a strong presence in mixed-use, commercial, leisure, residential and healthcare.^[1]

Their first major sports stadium project was the redevelopment of Stamford Bridge in 1991, commissioned by former Chelsea FC chairman Ken Bates,^[2] integrating retail, commercial, hotel and residential usages around the football stadium.^[3][4] Recent years have seen the completion of the American Express Community Stadium in Brighton,^[5] Twickenham Stadium Players’ Facilities,^[6] London 2012 Basketball Arena,^[7] Tottenham Hotspur FC’s training centre and Brighton Hove Albion FC’s training complex. The practice have recently completed developments in Haifa, Israel for the Sammy Ofer Stadium which achieved UEFA Category 4 status, and Stade Océane in Le Havre, France, which is Europe’s first energy positive stadium.^[8]

KSS have also acted as technical advisers for Manchester City FC’s move from Maine Road to the Etihad Stadium which hosted the 2002 Commonwealth Games and was also external technical reviewer for post London 2012 games transformation at the Olympic Stadium.

KSS have recently unveiled plans for Tottenham Hotspur FC’s new stadium^[9] and a redevelopment of Anfield in Liverpool increasing the grounds capacity to 60,000 seats.^[10]

History

KSS were formed in 1991 by David Keirle, Andy Simons and Martin Salter. In the last 23 years KSS have established an international reputation as one of the leading innovative designers in the sports and entertainment sectors. The architectural practice is currently designing a wide range of facilities throughout the United Kingdom, Europe, Latin America, North America, and the Middle East. In the mid-nineties KSS outgrew its offices in Lower Regent Street and moved to No.4 Savile Row where the stature and size of the practice continued to grow and develop. KSS is currently located at 1 James Street, and has been since 2003. KSS are independently owned with 80 staff working out of offices in London and Sevenoaks.
