History
On September 3, 1946, KPFM signed on the air at 94.9 MHz and moved to 97.1 MHz on July 31, 1947, broadcasting a classical music format. On December 16, 1961, KPFM became the first station in Oregon to broadcast in stereo. On February 27, 1970, KPFM changed their call letters to KPAM-FM ("K-Pam") and aired a top 40 format. In September 1980, KPAM-FM changed their call letters to KCNR (The "Center" of the FM dial) and aired an adult contemporary format. On November 14, 1985, KCNR-FM changed their call letters to KKLI and rebranded as "K-Lite 97 FM". On February 5, 1988, KKLI changed their call letters to KKSN-FM and, the following day, changed their format to oldies as "97.1 KISN-FM" (simulcasting KKSN 910 AM).[1] On April 21, 2005, KKSN-FM changed their format to their current adult hits format (the oldies format moved to KKSN 910 AM) and changed their call letters to KYCH on April 29, 2005.[2]
KYCH plays a mix of music, mostly from the rock and pop genres, from the 60s to today, with a heavier emphasis placed on classic rock of the 70s-80s.
