Kadhal Sadugudu is a 2003 romantic action drama film in Tamil directed by Durai, starring Vikram, Priyanka Trivedi and Prakash Raj in the leading roles. The film released in April 2003 to poor reviews and became a Box Office Flop. A Telugu dubbed version titled Sivudu released in 2004, which too failed to become a success.
Later on, the film was also dubbed and released in Hindi under the title Aparichit 2 on 20 May 2014, and met with the similar response.
Plot
The film starts off by showing Chithambaram (Prakash Raj), and how he's an important man in the village. He is an adamant character who always sticks on to his decisions. When the temple festival starts, Kausalya (Priyanka) goes to her grandfather's house to celebrate. There she meets Suresh (Vikram) and they fall in love. Meanwhile, Chithambaram gets into many conflicts with Suresh, not even knowing who the other was. All the things that Suresh did were unintentional but Chithambaram doesn't realize this. Therefore, Chithambaram ends up with a very negative opinion of Suresh. One day everyone in Kausalya's grandfather's's home find out that Suresh and Kausalya are in love by seeing Suresh pressing Kausalya's sweating navel thereby tasting her lips and as she is unable to stop him as she has applied mehandi on her hands. On seeing this they try to get Chithambaram (Kausalya's father) to agree to the wedding. He, however stubbornly sticks to his decision that the marriage should not take place.
Finally Suresh asks him what would make him happy. Chithambaram says that he would be happy if Suresh dies. Realizing arguing further would be futile, Suresh decides to go back to Madras. .Meanwhile while Kauslaya washes her clothes Ilavarasu gets attracted towards her physique and she is being molested by him.She somehow manages to escape and reports it to her father. But Kausalya feels she is insecure and needs a companion. So Kausalya tries to join him at the railway station to go with him, but Suresh refuses saying "If I Marry you, It will be with your father's permission and acceptance" so at that time Chithambaram had arrived at the station to prevent his daughter from eloping with Suresh to Madras. He hears this conversation and now after this incident Chithambaram realizes how good Suresh is so finally decides to accept Suresh as his daughter's love, and fiance. Suresh, seeing that Chithambaram is no longer withholding consent for their match, also agrees.

Production
The film was developed under the title of Adhisayam, with director Durai revealing he insisted on Vikram being cast in the lead role. The project was also meant to mark the Tamil film debut of actress Priyanka Trivedi, but delays meant that two other films released beforehand.[1] The film began schedules in early 2001 and Vikram put on weight for the role, after going on a diet for his portrayal of a police officer in Dhill (2001).[2]
Release
The film opened to mixed reviews, with Malathi Rangarajan of The Hindu noting that the film is neither "action packed nor a haunting family drama", adding that time you wish it "were a little more brisk and dynamic".[3] A further reviewer with BizHat.com wrote that the film was a "disappointment" and left "no impact" on viewers.[4] Post-release, the film's comedy track by actor Vivek has garnered appreciation from film critics.[5]
The film performed poorly at the box office, coming after several successful films for Vikram during the period.[6] Vikram later claimed that he was taken for a "royal ride" and that the story went through several changes after the initial narration. He also alleged that the producer S. S. Chakravarthy was increasingly loyal to another actor, Ajith Kumar, and was not interested in portraying Vikram in good light.[7] The film was later dubbed into Hindi and released in 2014 under the title Aparichit 2, though it had no connection with the first part of Aparichit (2005).
