Kavuluru is a village in the Nallajerla Mandal in West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh in India. It is situated on the bank of a rivulet [1] Yerrakaluva on the SH 42 having very good facility for transport. The village is located 50 kilometers from its district headquarters and 45 kilometers from Rajahmundry. The nearest towns are Tadepalligudem and Jangareddygudem.

There are about 1313 (1311 available) voters in the village as of 2014 elections voter list. About 91 percent votes were polled in the previous (2014) assembly and parliamentary elections.

Occupation

People of this village depend mainly on agriculture, like rest of the district. The main crops of the village are paddy, palm oil, tobacco, coconut, sugarcane, corn and cashew nut. Crops like Sugarcane, ground nut, sesame, eucalyptus, jute, mango, coconut, sweet lime, lemon, Chikoo, banana, water melon, musk melon and some vegetables are grown intermittently. Sugarcane produced in the village is carried to nearby sugar factories like The Jeypore Sugar Company Ltd., Chagallu and Pothavaram; The Andhra Sugars Ltd. in Tanuku, Taduvai, and Bhimadole. Also the village is a rich source of milk. Milk produced in the village is carried to near by diaries like Thirumala, Sri Chakra and Agrigold. The agriculture of the village is highly dependent on Bore wells. The villagers of Kavuluru follow modern agriculture techniques to get better yields.

Geography

The village has a pond at its heart. To the north, there is a cemetery on the bank of Yerrakalva. To the east, there is a temple of goddess Ganganamma. On the road towards Nallajerla to the south, there is another temple of goddess Poleramma. To the west, there is a stretch of farms extending until the temple of Papullamma. Pothavaram, Chipurugudem and Nabipeta are the nearest villages sharing border with Kavuluru.

Climate

The weather is hot and humid, with a tropical climate and, thereby, no distinct seasons. The mean maximum temperature is about 32 °C. The hottest season is from April to June, with temperature ranging from 34 °C to 48 °C. The coolest months are December and January, when it is pleasant at about 27 °C to 30 °C. The village receives heavy monsoon rain at the end of summer, aided by small to heavy depressions in the Bay of Bengal with a maximum precipitation in the months July to September.

Transport

Kavuluru is situated on Andhra Pradesh State Highway 42 and has high connectivity to nearby towns and cities through regular buses. Even famous pilgrimage sites such as Dwaraka Tirumala (Chinna Tirupathi) and Bhadrachalam are near to the village. APSRTC Telugu Velugu Buses are found very frequent and keep plying on SH 42 and do stop in the village. The village has high connectivity to Tadepalligudem, Jangareddygudem, Koyyalagudem, Tanuku, Eluru, Kovvur, Bhimavaram and Rajahmundry by bus.

Education

There is a Board School at the centre of the village, beside Gram Panchayat Office which is being run by the State Government. The village gives high importance to the education for its younger generations. As part of Integrated Child Development Services, the village has Anganwadi centre.
