Taylor's Lanka skink, Lankascincus taylori, is a species of skink endemic to island of Sri Lanka.
Habitat & Distribution
A montane representative of Lanka skinks, found from 470-1350m above sea level, at Sinharaja, Knuckles Mountain Range, Gampola, Hantana, and Udawatta Kele.
Description
Head, body and tail are long and slender. Midbody scales rows 24-26. Lamellae under fourth toe are 12-18. Dorsum chocolate brown, each scale with a dark gray horseshoe mark, open ended posteriorly. A dark brown flank band can be seen with blue spots. Throat is grayish with blue spots. Venter yellow.
Ecology & Diet
Found in moist leaf litter, under stones and logs in forests. Diet includes insects.
Reproduction
Usually 2 eggs are laid at a time.
