Laugharne Township
Coordinates: 51°46′16″N 4°27′43″W / 51.771°N 4.462°W Laugharne Township (Welsh: Treflan Lacharn) is an electoral ward and community in Carmarthenshire, Wales. The population of the Community at the 2011 census was 1,222.[1]
The electoral ward includes the village of Pendine and the stretch of beach called Pendine Sands. At the 2001 census, its population was 2,942 people residing in 1,191 households, decreasing to 2,851 at the 2011 Census.[2]
It is located on the south coast of Carmarthenshire, just south west of the town of St Clears. Historically, it was the civil parish corresponding to the marcher borough of Laugharne. It is a predominantly English-speaking area, just south of the linguistic boundary.
The community lies on the northern shore of Carmarthen Bay. It is bordered by the communities of: Llanddowror; St Clears; Llangynog; and Llansteffan, all being in Carmarthenshire.
