Main characters

Jack

Jack Brewer (Leo Howard) is the new kid in town, whose foremost hobbies are martial arts and skateboarding. He learned karate from his grandfather, who also trained Bobby Wasabi for the latter's movies. Jack is loyal to his friends and inspires them to give 110%, just as he himself always does.[1] He cannot stand the scent, or taste, of blue cheese. Jack also has a phobia of clowns, which he confronted in "Boo Gi Nights". Jack also tends to say "You probably shouldn't have done that", whenever someone tries to punch him and he blocks it. He has great respect for his elders, particularly Rudy, but dislikes being told what to do and when, he also dislikes being shoved away. In the episode "Buddyguards" it is revealed that Jack can play guitar. It is revealed that his last name is Brewer and was shown that he gets jealous when Kim goes around other boys shown in the episode ["New Jack City"]. Jack has skills in martial arts that far surpass those of his friends (and enemies). It revealed that Jack likes Kim, and vice versa. In the Karate Games, Kim tells Jack that he is amazing and then they almost kiss. They go out on a date in "Kickin' It On Our Own." They begin dating officially in the episode "Two Dates and A Funeral." Jack also gets a job being an assistant sensei in season 3. In "Hit the Road Jack", he was offered a chance to go to Japan's Otai Academy. However, he declined to go since he didn't want to leave Kim or his friends. By "Wasabi Forever", he encouraged Kim to go after taking time to think. She gives him a cherry blossom to remember her by, and they finally kiss before she leaves for Japan.

Milton

Milton David Krupnick (Dylan Riley Snyder) is an honor student who enrolls in martial arts to learn self-defense after being bullied for taking French Horn lessons. He is oddly unaware of his own shortcomings and has an awkward sense of confidence.[2] A child prodigy, most school subjects come naturally to him. Milton has a weird sense of nerd fashion, and once got food for the dojo when it was about to get smashed. According to his parents, he looked like a baby bird when he was born. He takes pride in having won his school's first-ever Spelling Bee. Milton wants to be a "kick-butt" hero like Jack. His rarely used middle name is David. Milton also loves Live Action Role Playing in the park. His girlfriend is Julie. It is revealed that both Milton and Jerry have become so good at karate that they can fight black dragons and beat them. During Kickin it On Our Own, he transfers to Swathmore Academy and Claire seems to have a crush on him. In season 3, Milton and Julie are revealed to have broken up in "Gabby's Gold" and he also dates Gabby Douglas in the same episode. Since their breakup, Milton became overconfident and usually comes on too strong, clear examples being Grey and Nikki. In "How Bobby Got His Groove Back" it's revealed that he's Jewish.

Jerry

Jerry Martinez (Mateo Arias) is a "lone wolf" who ends up at Bobby Wasabi's dojo to complete his school PE credit. Jerry speaks Spanish fluently (despite flunking his high-school Spanish class), and acts the bad boy to give himself the illusion of being macho. As a talented dancer, he once invented a move called -"The Jerry". While he is more-so confused than tough, he is fiercely loyal and takes his friendships very seriously.[3] Jerry is willing to try anything at least once, and seldom refuses a dare. He has a tendency to choke on his barbells, due to lifting heavier weights and/or more of them than he really should. Jerry served a brief stint as the stunt partner of Seaford High cheer-captain (and karate classmate) Kim, but this didn't last because he kept dropping her...and because of his morbidly hairy body and limbs. It is revealed in the episode "Reality Fights" that Jerry is frightened of saltine crackers. His last name, Martinez, was first revealed in "All the Wrong Moves." In "Skate Rat", Eddie revealed that Jerry's middle name is Caeser. Jerry has become a better karate student than both Eddie and Milton as seen in "All the President's Friends" when he fights Frank. In "The New Girl", Jerry is revealed to have a lying problem which Milton and Joan tried to cure him of until they realized he's more trouble when he tells the truth. It's also revealed in the same episode that this was the reason for Milton and Julie breaking up. Jerry originally worked at the Seaford Animal Park, but in the season 4 premiere, he became the manager of Phil's Bowl and Burger. It was also revealed that he's a skilled bowler.

Kim

Kim Beulah Crawford[4] (Olivia Holt) is the only female student at the Bobby Wasabi Martial Arts Academy but that doesn't faze her. She crossed over from an arch-rival dojo, the Black Dragons, after they cheated in a tournament and still lost.[5] She remained friends with Carson Hunter who taught Kim her horrible dance moves and was a former student at the Bobby Wasabi Martial Arts Academy. Kim loves journalism and hates being called "just another pretty face". She rarely wears dresses or makeup, except to impress a guy. She's co-captain of her high-school cheer squad, and had a huge crush on teen pop star Ricky Weaver...until he proved to be an utter heel. If Kim has a weakness, it's dancing; even with coaching from karate classmate Jerry, she has trouble "getting down." Kim's toughness belies her endearing appearance; she's typically the first to stick up for herself and/or a friend. Her last name, Crawford, was revealed in the season 1 episode "Dojo Day Afternoon". Kim has a crush on fellow black belt Jack, but hides it from him and everybody else. It's revealed in the episode "A Slip Down Memory Lane" that she considers Jack as more than just a friend. In the season 3 episode "Jack Stands Alone", Kim's middle name is revealed to be Beulah.[4] In the episode "Wazombie Warrior", Kim went on a date with Jack. In "Karate Games", Kim tells Jack that he is amazing and Jack almost kissed her. In "Kickin' It On Our Own", They go out on another date. They begin dating officially in "Two Dates and A Funeral." In "Wasabi Forever", Kim was accepted into Otai and left for Japan. After sharing a kiss, Kim gives Jack a cherry blossom petal and tells him to think of her every time he looks at it.

NOTE: Olivia Holt was billed for, but did not appear in, several second-season episodes while filming Girl vs. Monster in 2012. No explanation was ever given for Kim's absence.

Eddie

Eddie Jones (Alex Christian Jones) is a sweet-but-uncoordinated youngster who attends Bobby Wasabi Martial Arts Academy to get in shape. He loves the sense of achievement karate gives him. Eddie's biggest fear is that, if the dojo ever closes, he'll be forced by his mother back to Mrs. King's Dance Academy.[6] His pet peeve is doing anything he detests - like taking dance and/or cello lessons - for the sole purpose of impressing others. Eddie's mom once told him that babies came from a pumpkin patch. He embarrasses easily, and was once blackmailed by school bully Truman into pulling a series of cruel pranks on his friends. He wants to be an archeologist when he grows up. In "A Slip Down Memory Lane", Milton honestly answers Eddie's question about Eddie's horrible karate moves, meaning that Eddie can't improve his karate skills well.

Rudy

Rudy Gillespie (Jason Earles) is a third-degree blackbelt and the sensei - also, more recently, manager - of the local Bobby Wasabi Martial Arts Academy, Rudy was a top amateur martial artist until being sidelined by an injury; he remains as competitive as they come. He's a lifelong fan of Bobby Wasabi, and keeps posters of all the man's movies around the dojo. Rudy has used his entire life's savings to become co-owner of the BWMAA chain, and takes fierce pride in the fact.[7] Despite his wacky nature and sometimes-gross sense of humor, he's a very good (if unorthodox) karate instructor who genuinely identifies with his students...and who's always ready to back them up when rough times get rougher. His last name, Gillespie, was first revealed in "It Takes Two To Tangle." In Kickin It On Our Own, he sells the dojo but gets it back after winning a fight against Kofi Kingston. After becoming Sam's guardian, Rudy makes Jack his assistant sensei. In "The Boys are back in Town", after a ferris wheel accident, Rudy opened the Wasabi Warrior Academy.

Recurring characters

Phil

Phil (Dan Ahdoot) is the owner of the restaurant, Falafel Phil's and later on, Phil's Bowl and Burger. Apparently he came to America with his cousin Carl to open a restaurant but had creative differences. During "Dueling Dojos", it's revealed that no one mops the floors at the restaurant, he doesn't have a permit to run it, nor does he use real meat. He has a goat named Tootsie, whom he is extremely fond of. He sometimes competes against Rudy though both seem to be friends as Rudy invited him on a motorcycle trip, and helps baby-sit his goat when he is out of town. He has a niece (Mika) that Jerry dates during Season 2.

Joan Malone

Joan Malone (Brooke Dillman) is a security guard at the strip mall where the Bobby Wasabi Martial Arts Academy is located, who tends to tag along with the Wasabi Warriors. A recurring gag is that Joan rips off her uniform to reveal another outfit underneath that aligns with the episode's main theme. In "All the President's friends", her last name was revealed. In the Season 3 premiere, an online video Jerry posted revealed Joan was out of shape, which nearly cost her job.

Joan's catchphrase is "Forget that."

Bobby Wasabi

Bobby Wasabi (Joel McCrary) is an international movie star and owner of the Bobby Wasabi chain. Jack's Grandfather trained him for all his movies and now he is overweight.

Sensei Ty

Sensei Ty (Ian Reed Kesler) is the Black Dragon's master and rival of the Wasabi Warriors, especially Rudy whom he held a grudge against for 15 years. It all started when they were studying martial arts with the Grand Master to determine who would get to be the Grand Master's apprentice; during that match, Ty heard a toot and dropped his guard, giving Rudy an opening and the chance to take the win. Ever since Ty has hated Rudy and vowed to never rest until he got his revenge, even though it was the Grand Master who tooted. In "Win, Lose or Ty", he and Rudy become friends when they share the a dojo when Rudy accidentally crashed a monster truck into the Black Dragon's dojo, but in the end, go back to being enemies. It is shown that he and Rudy are now fremenies and Ty holds a bigger grudge on Rudy. Ty is a recurring character who has appeared twice in each season.

Frank

Frank (Wayne Dalglish) is a student at Seaford High School who trains with the Black Dragon's. He has a huge crush on Kim, though she does not like him. He is also angered by the fact that she left the dojo after she realized that Ty cheated. It is revealed that he is 19 years old but still in seventh grade. As revealed by Ty, Frank was hit over the head with a bo staff which explains his stupidity. His last name was revealed to be Bickle in "Jack Stands Alone".

Marge

Marge (Loni Love) is Seaford High School's lunch lady who also takes classes at the dojo in episode Wasabi Warriors and All The Wrong Moves. She appears in most episodes just as a lunch lady.

Lonnie

Lonnie (Peter Oldring) is the owner of Reptile World and Rudy's frenemy. He has a pet Brazilian Monkey Lizard named Leanor. He also lives with his mother. He's only been seen in season 1 but was mentioned by Jerry and Eddie in "Kim of Kong".

Julie

Julie (Hannah Leigh) is a student at Seaford High who is Milton's former girlfriend and also Ty's niece. She seems to have taken their relationship seriously as she threatened Kim about kissing Milton. They broke up in "The New Girl" due to Jerry's reformed truth telling. Julie didn't make any appearances after "All The President's Friends" but eventually returned in "The 'Stang".

Mika

Mika (Oana Gregory) first appeared in Kickin it Old school. She is the niece of Falafal Phil. Jerry told everyone that they were dating so she and Phil made him do ridiculous tasks in order to date a girl. He was about to complete the last tasks but told him it was to get back at him and they start dating. In Wedding Crashers, they are boyfriend and girlfriend. She attends Seaford with the others. She is said to be ugly by her own uncle Phil, despite the fact that she is attractive. Mika doesn't appear in season 3: either because she and Jerry have broken up or she has returned to Hakmakistan, or she did both.

Ms. Bethany Applebaum

Ms. Applebaum (Rachel Cannon) is the Health teacher at Seaford High and Rudy's girlfriend. She was introduced in "Kickin' it Old School" where she became Rudy's teacher until he graduates. Later, the two date and become an official couple throughout seasons 2 - 3.

Sam

Sam (Rio Mangini) is a new recurring character introduced in "Dueling Dojos" where Rudy originally adopted him to look good in front of Po and tried to put Kim and Milton in charge of him. When Sam made enemies out of all 3 of them, Rudy decided to give him back. After Sam revealed he never had a family, Rudy decided to keep him. In "Two Dates and a Funeral", he was revealed to be a piano prodigy. In "Win, Lose, or Ty", it is also revealed that he has no friends.

Po

Grand Master Po (Gerald Okamura) is a more of a background character in the series. First seen in a flashback in "Clash of the Titans", he accidentally tooted Ty off his stump and made Rudy his pupil, making him responsible for starting Rudy and Ty's rivalry. He later returned in "The Chosen One", where he's revealed to be a Xiaolin master and became friends with Jerry. He made a cameo in "Hit the Road Jack" giving Eddie his orange belt. He returned in "Dueling Dojos" handing ownership of Sam to Rudy.

Claire

Claire (Katherine McNamara) is a student at Swathmore Academy, She is Kim's rival/enemy and Jerry's crush/love interest.

Grace

Grace (Grace O'Doherty) is captain of the Seaford High pep squad. Her co-captain is Kim, who doubles as her frienemie. Eddie has a crush on her; at first, she won't give him the time of day. She finally gives in when he suffers a near-fatal mishap while performing as Seaford's mascot. Played by Jim O'Doherty's real-life daughter.

Izzy

Izzy Gunnar (Eric Tiede) is a famous rock star and the lead singer of Jack and Jerry's favorite band, Kung Fu Lightning. First appearing in "Buddygaurds", his bassist Lars hired thugs to jump him for stealing his spotlight. After being saved by Jack and Jerry twice, he made them his bodyguards. Izzy returned in "School of Jack", where he gave Jack advice on how to let Milton's band be who they are. He also returned in "From Zeroes to Heroes" where Rudy and Jack take him out to a baseball game where he costs the game by catching a ball.

Sidney

Sidney (Harrison Boxley) is a recurring character throughout the series. He was first seen in "Swords and Magic", as an arch-enemy to Milton during their L.A.R.P. practices. He was later seen in "Hit the Road Jack" where he was wedgied by some unknown bully. He returned in "The Sub Sinker" and "School Of Jack" as a friend to Milton. Sidney is a recurring character who has appeared once in Seasons 1 & 2 and appears twice in Seasons 3 & 4.

Albert

Albert (Jimmy Bellinger) is a nerd who at first was friends with Milton and Sidney, but was really jealous of Milton. In "The Sub Sinker", the first episode he appeared in, he attempted to have Jerry expelled because of his stopping everybody from learning. However, he didn't expect Jerry to study at math and was busted. Every episode he appeared in after that shows he has a crush on Kim. Albert seems to be very annoying and tends to jump at the chance to mess with anybody, which usually backfires.

Principal/Agent Funderburk

Principal Funderburk, now Agent Funderburk, (Eric Nenninger) is the agent in "Return of Spyfall" and season 4, principal in season 3, and the former gym teacher in season 2. He, like every other faculty member, hates Jerry due to all the trouble he causes. In "Home Alone in School", it's shown that he has his own bathroom which he has made into a man cave. In "The Sub Sinker" he becomes the substitute geometry teacher. In "Return Of Spyfall", he reveals he is just being a principal to cover up that he is actually a Secret Government Agent. So Far, Jack and Milton only know his secret. Funderburk isn't a major character but appears a lot in season 3. In season 4, he requests Jack and Milton's help again after Shane revealed himself as a R.A.S.H. agent.

Shane

Shane Peters (Scott Dunn) is the Master of Disguise on Funderberk's team of teenage spies. He first appeared in "Spyfall", passing himself off as the Prince of Hakmakistan in order for Funderberk to test Jack. In "Return of Spyfall", he met Jack and Milton face to face, receiving little respect from them or Grey. However, Jack and Milton learn that the reason for Shane trying to be a great spy was because his father is the greatest spy of all and thinking his son wasn't cut out for it. By the end of their mission, Shane finally gained his father's respect. In "The Boys are Back in Town", Shane, out of jealousy against Jack and Milton being natural spies, double-crossed them and Funderberk and became a double agent for R.A.S.H., recruiting new people in the process. After setting their base to explode and being subdued by Jack, Shane was imprisoned.

Taylor

Taylor (Veronica Dunne) is Jerry's girlfriend in Season 4. Initially, she rejected him, however, when he did a daredevil stunt in "Tightroping the Shark", she was impressed and decided to give him a chance. Her family was rich but they got robbed, which is why she was transferred from Swanthmore to Seaford High. Taylor works at the juice bar in the Wasabi Warriors Martial Arts Academy.
