Living a simple life in the province as farmers, Manuel (Dominic Ochoa) and Magnolia (Vina Morales) make ends meet for their children Guillermo (John Manalo - Young Guillermo, Marx Topacio), Maria Mercedes (Alexa Ilacad - Young Mercedes, Jessy Mendiola), Rosario (Belinda Mariano - Young Rosario, Devon Seron), and Andres (Yogo Singh). Misfortune, however, befalls the family as Andres accidentally gets run over by a car. Unknown to Manuel, the tragedy forces Magnolia to seek the help of her persistent wealthy suitor.^[4]

Mercedes later rescues Luis from a group of thieves who knock him unconscious as he goes on his way back to his car.
