The Lucas Oil Formula Car Race Series is an entry-level amateur formula car racing series run by Lucas Oil School of Racing. The series utilizes Lucas Oil School of Racing's fleet of open-wheel Ray Formula Cars GR-RSC race cars in an arrive-and-drive format.
History
After a two-race test event in April, 2016 at Palm Beach International Raceway, Lucas Oil School of Racing established it first championship, a four-weekend, eight-race Winter Race Series, running from August through December.
Championship Format
The Lucas Oil Formula Car Race Series is organized into two divisions; the Championship division for younger, career-minded drivers transitioning from karting into junior open-wheel formula racing, and the Masters division, for drivers aged 40 and older. Championship division drivers compete for a driver development scholarship, while Masters drivers compete for… All drivers compete for overall race wins.
Each race event consists of two race, with separate qualifying sessions for each race. Drivers earn points in each race that are accumulated toward the season end championship tally.
