M. Thomas Mathew (born 1940) is an Indian literary critic.

He was born at Keekozhur in Pathanamthitta district. He had his education at Christian College Chengannur and Maharaja's College, Ernakulam.

He had served as Professor & Head of the department of Malayalam at Government College, Chittoor, Maharaja's College, Ernakulam, Govt. Brennan College, Thalassery and Victoria College, Palakkad. He was the Principal of Govt. College, Munnar. He was the Director of Kerala Bhasha Institute.

He has been selected for the Vayalar Ramavarma literature award instituted by the Vayalar Ramavarma Memorial Trust (Vayalar Award -2009) for the year 2009 for his work `Marar - Lavanyanubhavathinte Yuktishilpam’, a critical work on Kuttikrishna Marar published by Kerala Sahitya Akademi.[1] In recent times, there had been no work based on a critic released in Malayalam language. The language, references and findings of Thomas Mathew had attracted the attention of this book.

His major works are Danthagopurathilekku Veendum, Entevalmikam Evide, Sahithya Darsanam, Vangmukham, Atmavinte Murivukal, Sathyam Ningale Swathanthrarakkum and Marubhoomiyil Vilichuparayunnavante Sabdam, Bible Anubhavangal, Manushyante Shabdam sangeetham pole, Kaalam Saakshi. He had two translations including M.N. Roy’s new humanism.
