Macquarie Generation is an electricity generation company in Australia that was owned by the Government of New South Wales, and has a portfolio of generating sites using predominantly thermal coal power.
From its two thermal coal power stations and two oil-fired gas turbines, Macquarie Generation supplies approximately 11% of the electricity consumed in the National Electricity Market.[1] In early stages, Macquarie has commenced development of solar thermal power as a renewable source of energy,
Macquarie Generation is established pursuant to the State Owned Corporations Act, 1989 (NSW) and the Energy Services Corporation Act, 1995 (NSW).
In 2014 AGL Energy acquired Macquarie Generation for $1,505 million from the NSW Government[2]
