The Mahindra Scorpio Getaway is slotted in the pick-up truck segment or the lifestyle SUV segment and Mahindra knows this segment is at nascent stage in India, it wants to be the leader in this niche segment. The Getaway is a new category creating offering from the Scorpio stable. The new lifestyle product is based on the Scorpio platform and sports a grand deck that can carry various equipment and gear as per your lifestyle needs. It exudes ruggedness and style and is an extension of the go-getting persona of young Indians who do not shy of flaunting their success & lifestyle. The new Scorpio Getaway packs the DNA of the Scorpio into a lifestyle SUV. This vehicle complements the lifestyle of a growing breed of young adventurous Indians who work hard and play hard. They refuse to compromise on luxury and style, requiring a vehicle that can take them and their gear around in comfort as per their lifestyle needs. The Scorpio Getaway is available in 2WD and 4WD options and comes in 4 attractive colours. It pumps its power from its 2600cc common-rail diesel engine (CRDe).
M&M has not compromised on the safety aspect of the vehicle as well. The globally certified safety features include crash protecting crumple zones, child lock, collapsible steering and side intrusion beams. Also, the tubeless tires, voice assist system and remote locking / unlocking of the vehicle are the additional safety features.
The Mahindra Scorpio Getaway is essentially the second vehicle launched by Mahindra on the Mahindra Scorpio platform. Available in a 4-door trim and both 4X4 and 4X2 wheel drive configurations, it falls in the life-style pick up truck class, a class that has not seen good response in markets like India. This vehicle with similar features is also available in markets like South Africa and Australia(as Mahindra Pik-Up) where it is also available in a 2-door version. Prices range upward of 6,99,000 Indian Rupees.
This vehicle faces competition in the form of Mahindra’s own comparatively lower model “Mahindra Bolero Camper” and the Tata TL.
In the Australian and New Zealand markets the Mahindra Scorpio Getaway has been launched as the Mahindra Pik-Up in 2014. The oceanic version uses a 2.2L [mHawk] diesel engine delivering 88 kW (118.0 hp)@4000rpm and 280 newton metres (210 lb·ft)@1800rpm.
