The Maltipoo (also known as a Moodle or Maltapoo)[1] is a cross-breed/hybrid dog obtained by breeding a Maltese and a Poodle, usually of the Toy or Miniature size class. It is commonly considered to be hypoallergenic, although this has not been scientifically proven. Maltipoos are popular house pets due to their calm natures, wide range of colors, and small sizes.

Characteristics

The Maltipoo is a small dog, commonly weighing between 5 and 15 pounds and standing 8 to 14 inches high at the shoulder. It comes in a wide variety of colors, including black, white, brown, gray, and fawn. Many Maltipoos are bicolor, with a mix of white and any other color on their bodies. Their noses can also can be black or pink.[2][3]

Famous and other notable Maltipoos

Harley Quinn (female)

In September 2015, a YouTube video[4] of a paper towel-shredding Maltipoo named Harley Quinn went viral. Harley Quinn's video, according to YouTube commenters, has even been pirated multiple times—and the owner of Harley took this in stride:

I once submitted the video to America's Funniest Home Videos. They tell me I lost licensing rights once I submitted it. I'm just happy she is making so many other people happy!

The photos on its official Instagram account, @HQ_the_Maltipoo,[5] portray Harley Quinn's various expressions and her vivid personality, which have drawn 2,218 followers!

Reilly Rosalita

Since the page creator of the "Maltipoo—Animal Breed"[6] page on Facebook did not see a page for the breed in question, she created said page and featured on it pictures of her own Maltipoo, a Maltese-Poodle mix named Reilly Rosalita (whom is primarily known as "Reilly").[7] According to a biography of Reilly which Reilly's owner wrote on her blog,[8] she is the third of four littermates and the oldest female within her litter (all of whom became adult dogs on March 25, 2016[9]).

She is a native of Ole Field Farm in Union Bridge, Maryland (the Facebook page of which features pictures of then-six-weeks-old and seven-weeks-old Reilly), and she is one of several descents of Oobi-Won, a purebred Maltese, and Apple, a purebred standard Apricot Poodle.
