Marel hf (Nasdaq Iceland: MARL) is an Icelandic company that provides equipment, systems and services to the food processing industry.[4] The company's brands include Marel, Stork Poultry Processing and Townsend Further Processing.[5]

History

Marel was founded on March 17, 1983, and is headquartered in Garðabær, Iceland. In 2007, Marel changed its corporate identity to Marel Food Systems.[6] However, in 2010, after its integration with Stork Food Systems was completed, the name was changed back to Marel.[7] In 2013, the Company was named supplier of the year by the American Meat Institute.[8] In 2014, the Company won the overall innovation award at VIV Europe as well as for innovation in processing.[9] At the end of 2014, it had 4,053 employees and annual revenues of €713 million.[2]

Products

Marel focuses on poultry, fish, meat and further processing.[10] The company has worked on technological improvements to the provision of fish fillets.[11][12] In 2012, Marel won a EuroTier Gold Award for its contribution to environmental conservation and product safety in poultry processing.[13][14]
