Mark Gerson

Mark Gerson is an American investor and businessman. He is the co-founder and chairman of the Gerson Lehrman Group (GLG), a knowledge brokerage and primary research firm that operates a membership-based platform of more than 375,000[1] independent consultants. He is also the co-founder of the professional booking marketplace, Thuzio, that allows users to book talent for local experiences such as dinner, celebrations, corporate outings, or promotional events. Gerson is also involved in the Israeli first-responder network, United Hatzalah, and the entrepreneurial network, Axial Markets.[2]

Gerson Lehrman Group

Mark Gerson and fellow Yale Law School graduate Thomas Lehrman founded the Gerson Lehrman Group in 1998 as a publishing house to provide industry guidebooks for institutional investors. They abandoned that business model a year later and retooled it to offer a matchmaking service to connect investors with independent consultants. The Gerson Lehrman Group was once called the, "most valuable NYC company no one outside of Wall Street has ever heard of".[3] GLG is headquartered in New York with 21 offices globally and more than 900 employees. The company is venture-backed by Bessemer Venture Partners and Silver Lake Partners.[1] In 2005, The New York Times stated that the group was "the industry leader in connecting investors with specialists".[4]

Thuzio

In 2012, Gerson and new business partner Tiki Barber formed the online booking site Thuzio. They created Thuzio as an online marketplace that allows users to book professional talent for various experiences, from playing board games and doing puzzles to having dinner, social brand activation, corporate appearances, and business promotion.[5][6][7][8][9][10][11][12][13]

Gerson's vision for Thuzio was to create a platform that enables the public to connect with talent representing their passions and interests. He has been able to create a marketplace that shows the public what talent is available, what they're good at, and how much they charge, on a website that is easy to navigate. Gerson and Barber created Thuzio with the vision of making it easy for businesses and consumers to access Talent for the purpose of connecting through experiences and events. The market has always existed, but Thuzio is the first marketplace of its kind.[5]

Personal

Gerson is a former member of the Board of Trustees of the Manhattan Institute, as well as the former director of Project for the New American Century. He serves as the Executive Chairman of Gerson Lehrman Group and co-chairman of Thuzio. He is a chairman of Axial Markets and a current member of the board of Directors of Chockstone, Inc. He is on the advisory board of LuxResearch and is a board member of iMentor; and he is the chairman of UnitedRescue.us, a volunteer pre-ambulance emergency care service enabled by GPS technology. Gerson graduated with a BA from Williams College and a JD from Yale Law School.[2] He grew up in affluent Short Hills, New Jersey, attending Milburn High School.

In 2015, Gerson joined other Republicans in signing an amicus curiae brief supporting a constitutional right to same-sex marriage, which was submitted to the Supreme Court in Obergefell v. Hodges.[14]
