Megan Fairchild (born 1984) is a principal dancer with the New York City Ballet.[1]
Early life
She studied at the Ballet West Conservatory in Salt Lake City, Utah, where she was born in 1984, and entered the School of American Ballet as a boarding student in 2000. She went to high school at the Professional Children's School.
Career
Prior to becoming a principal dancer in 2005, she was in the corps de ballet(2002) and then as a soloist (2004). Her brother, Robert Fairchild is also a principal with the company.[2] She and her brother are both recipients of the Mae L. Wien Award at the School of American Ballet and the only siblings to share this distinction. Fairchild made her Broadway stage debut in the 2014 revival of On the Town, which opened on October 16, 2014 at the Lyric Theatre. She plays the role of "Ivy".[3] She received the 2015 Theatre World Award for her performance.[4]
She is currently a Teaching Fellow with the School of American Ballet.
