Calvin LeBrun, better known as Mister Cee or DJ Mister Cee, (born August 17, 1966) is an American hip hop DJ, and radio personality on New York's RADIO 103.9, and a record producer. LeBrun is best known as the DJ for hip hop artist Big Daddy Kane during the late 1980s and early 1990s. He also served as an associate executive producer for the Notorious B.I.G.'s debut album, Ready to Die (1994).[1] He has also developed and endorsed a variant of the Tropical Fantasy soft drink, which he named "Island Punch Finisher".[2]
Biography
LeBrun was born in the Bedford–Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, New York. He started working summer jobs at age 14, and graduated from high school at 18, where he met Big Daddy Kane. After graduation he worked for several messenger companies. He worked for Airborne Express up until he and Big Daddy Kane released the album Long Live the Kane (1988).[3] In 2008, Mister Cee was featured as himself on the hip-hop radio station "102.7 The Beat" in Rockstar Games' Grand Theft Auto IV.
Legal history
Mister Cee pleaded guilty to loitering for the purpose of engaging in prostitution with 20-year-old Lawrence Campbell.[4] Campbell was known on the street as Brook-Lyne.[4] In a Daily News article, Mister Cee was quoted as saying "And it's nothing — it's no offense to transgender women, but I only get with transgender women for one thing and one thing only, and that's for oral sex," he said. "Like I said: I never had sex with a man. I never had sex with a transgender woman."[5] In 2013, Mister Cee was arrested for allegedly agreeing to have sex with an undercover police officer who was posing as a prostitute.[4]
