Synopsis
Murder by Family chronicles Thomas Bartlett Whitaker's attempts to have a hitman murder his parents and brother on 10 December 2003. The book also follows his father Kent Whitaker's spiritual journey of healing afterwards and forgiveness for his son.
Whitaker was refused a plea bargain in return for his admission of guilt and was sentenced to death[2] and currently resides in the Polunsky Unit,[3] Texas.
Whitaker took PEN's first prize in the essay in 2011 for “Hell's Kitchen”.[4]
