They draw their inspiration from Moheener Ghoraguli, Bryan Adams, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, Chandrabindoo, KK and their compositions mostly comprise fusion and rock.

They perform in Bengali, Hindi and English language.

Formation of the band

Initially the band was formed by the then established musicians of Asansol. Muzik Street was formed 8 years ago by Dipendu (vocals), Avishek (on rhythm guitar), Gautam Mukherjee (on lead guitar) (Presently member of the band Pulse), Bubun (drums) and Debjit (on bass guitar). They had their first rehearsal at Avishek's aunt's flat. Not much time and they realised the need for a keyboardist. It is then when Timir joined the band as the keyboardist but with a condition that he will also sing few songs. Then another member Debprasad Tewari joined the band as the keyboardist. Then they felt the need for another guitarist and they invited Rajat to join the band. Rajat joined the band as the third guitarist. Till then the band had not been named. First the band was named Phoenix by a friend. Later Rajat suggested the name Muzik Street and the later was adapted as the name of the band. Next they participated in a competition between bands at UIT Burdwan's fest. Muzik Street grabbed the first Prize.[2] Parash Pathor was the judge. Their most famous song "Ajo Mon" was appreciated by all. Debprasad won the best keyboardist award. Next they performed at B. B. College Asansol and got lots of praise. That year the gave many performances during Durga puja and were appreciated by all.

Later Bubun left the band as he had to move to Bangalore owing to his job. So Ron(met MS at burdwan UIT fest) joined the band as a drummer, but he could not continue long owing to the distance. For few days Debaprasad used to play the drums. Later Sirsendu a.k.a. Papai joined the band as a drummer. Gradually Dipendu left the band due to some personal reasons. Gautam also left the band two years after its formation on similar grounds. Then Sagar joined the band as the lead guitarist. After Dipendu left the band Timir became the vocalist of the band. Debaprasad a.k.a. Debu - who arranged all the songs also left the band. Later Debjit also left the band and the band reached the line up which it has today.

Songs

"Ajo Mon"

Ajo Mon is the most famous song of Muzik Street till date. It was originally not the band's song. It was written in 2003. One of their friend named Shaswata had composed many melodies with his keyboard. Timir wrote the song and also did some composition. One day while Shaswata, a friend was playing a tune, it caught their attention. Timir wrote down the lyrics and within 15 minutes Ajo Mon was created. Rajat heard the song asked Timir to include it as the band song. After a little hesitation Timir agreed and hence the most hit song of MS till date was created.

"Brishti Bheja"

Brishti Bheja was written by Timir and his friend Shounak Lahiri in 2004. Timir composed the song. The song owes much of its success to Debaprasad who was there in the band at that time.

"9/11"

Unlike the romantic numbers "Ajo Mon" and "Brishti Bheja" MS includes in their discography some serious numbers one of which is 9/11. It deals about the tragic 9/11 incident of America. It was created in 2007 and penned by Rajat. The tune was composed by Sagar. The song was arranged by Debaprasad and Sagar. The song is enriched with a scintillating Alaap by Timir.

Their other songs include Chal Aaj, Moni Da - A tribute to Goutam Chattopadhyay, Amaar Gaan. The band has also covered several songs like Telephone(originally composed by Moheener Ghoraguli), Aashayein (sung by KK from Iqbal), Summer of 69 (by Bryan Adams) and a lot more.

Timir has also done many playbacks in movies. His first break was Onnyo Kothao Chol from the movie 033.[3] The music was composed by Chandrabindoo.
