My Girl's Pussy

"My Girl's Pussy" is a song by the British bandleader and clarinetist Harry Roy. The song was recorded in 1931 by Harry Roy and His Bat Club Boys. The song uses two of the meanings of the word "pussy" (a cat, and female genitalia) in a series of double entendres.

Cover versions

This song was later covered in 1976 by Ian Whitcomb,[1] in 1978 by R. Crumb & His Cheap Suit Serenaders,[2] in 2004 by Kitten on the Keys,[3] and in 2007 by Blag Dahlia.[4] In 2013, it was featured in The Rigano Songbook's cabaret "I Ought to Behave and other Naughty Songs" with David and Paul Rigano at Don't Tell Mama (a long established Manhattan cabaret restaurant on 46th Street) in a medley with the song "Here, Pussy, Pussy".[5]

In popular culture

The song was used as part of the soundtrack of the film Head in the Clouds.[6] It was later used as the theme song to the Australian Broadcasting Corporations's series Laid in 2011–12.
