N. Kuttikrishna Pillai, better known as N. K. Desam (Malayalam: എൻ. കെ. ദേശം; born October 31, 1936), is a Malayalam-language poet and literary critic from the south Indian state of Kerala. His poetry collection Mudra won the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award in 2009.[1]

Biography

He was born in 1936 in Desam village near Alwaye[2] as the son of Padinjarevalappil P. K. Narayana Pillai and Poovathumpadavil Kunjukutty Pillai. After graduating in Malayalam literature, he obtained a job in the Life Insurance Corporation of India in 1960 before starting his literary career as a poet and critic.
