Namuwiki (Korean: 나무위키) is a Korean wiki in Paraguay which started on April 17, 2015. Namu (나무) literally means "tree" in Korean. As of November 29, 2016, it has more than 860,000 articles, making it the largest Korean-language wiki .[2] It focuses on a wider range of topics than Wikipedia, including topics that would be outside Wikipedia scope such as gaming guides and original research.

History

On April 2015, following a community dispute (Owner against CCL), most of the Rigveda Wiki users left. Most of them rejoined at Namuwiki, which is one of the biggest wikis forked from Rigveda Wiki.[3]

On May 2016, Namu transferred Namuwiki's server managements rights to a new owner, Umanle. He established a company in Paraguay.[4]

Features

Namuwiki is mostly similar to Rigveda Wiki. However, its differences lie in the administrator election and the rules for editing. Namuwiki is considered to be more democratized than Rigveda Wiki. However, it has been criticized for being slow for making final decisions.

It has been pointed out that one of the causes which decreases of the quality of the articles is the increase of minors who edit articles.

It uses a Wiki software called The Seed.
