Nikon Nikkor 85mm f/2
The Nikon Nikkor 85mm f/2 is one of Nikon's 85mm manual focus lenses. It has It has five lens elements in five groups and a diaphragm with seven blades[1] with full-stop scale aperture range f/2 - f/22.
It is a medium telephoto (with angle of view of 28°30 on 35mm full-frame cameras and 18°50 on dx crop-factor cameras) prime lens.
There are some slightly different identifiable versions for both some features and according to the serial number:[2]
- AI type (S/N: 104102) prototype - with engraving[3] "LENS MADE IN JAPAN";
- AI type (S/N: 175111 - 179151) using a prong (meter coupling shoe[4]) with large holes - with engraving[3] "LENS MADE IN JAPAN";
- AI type (S/N: 178259 - 193769) with engraving[3] "MADE IN JAPAN";
- AI type (S/N: 192159 - 265109) using a sheet metal prong[4] from S/N 2100xx - with engraving[3] "MADE IN JAPAN";
- AI-S type (S/N: 270001 - 358019) with depth of field scale on chrome ring - with engraving[3] "MADE IN JAPAN".

According to some statistics, this lens maintains a good used value (see [5] for AI type and [6] for AI-S type or simply search on e-bay[7]).

In order to remove the back lenses assembly you need to unscrew the bayonet mount and gently lift it up.

After that, the aperture-ring can be raised too.
Now, setting the focus-ring at infinite, there is enough space to unscrew the back lens assembly.

In order to remove the front lenses assembly you need to unscrew the front labeled ring (a right diameter rubber can help) and the focus-ring.

Now removing the side screw-lock, you can unscrew both the front lens holder-ring and the front lens assembly.
