Nina Montée Karp

Nina Montée Karp (born January 20, 1963) is an environmental activist, producer and director. She is a founding Board Member[1] of Healthy Child Healthy World – a national environmental non-profit organization dedicated to protecting young children from chemical and other ambient threats and promoting safer, healthier environments. She is a Board Member[2] of The Environmental Working Group, whose mission is to protect public health and the environment. She serves as the Vice Chair of Childrens Hospital of Los Angeles' Huckleberry Fund to benefit homeless teens and is a Board Member for Breastcancer.org, which has disseminated information and support about breast cancer to over 8 million women.

Biography

Montée Karp was born in Belgrade to a Montenegrin mother and a Czechoslovak father. Her uncle, Milan Panić, was the Prime Minister of Yugoslavia. Karp is married to nationally renowned pediatrician and author Dr. Harvey Karp. She has one daughter, Lexi. The family resides in Los Angeles.

Career

Montée Karp directed and produced the award-winning educational DVDs, The Happiest Baby on the Block and "The Happiest Toddler on the Block". These videos have been featured in The New York Times, Associated Press, Good Morning America, The View, Dr. Phil and CNN.[3][4][5][6][7]

In 2001, she co-produced "Not Under My Roof", an award-winning educational video featuring Olivia Newton-John and Kelly Preston designed to teach parents how to create a healthier home.[7]

In 2009, she wrote, produced and directed the 2-DVD set, "Breast Cancer: The Path of Wellness and Healing", a comprehensive visual guide forbreast cancer patients and their loved ones. Participants in this DVD include leading breast cancer specialists (e.g. Susan Love, Marisa Weiss, Dennis Slamon), top wellness experts (e.g. Dean Ornish, Deepak Chopra, Maoshing Ni) and numerous celebrities breast cancer survivors (e.g. Olivia Newton-John, Sheryl Crow, Melissa Etheridge, Christina Applegate).[8][9][10]
