It also provides a guide to suppliers and a list of free catalogs.

Background and recognition

Old House Web was founded in 1999 in Gardiner, Maine by Ken and Deb Holmes.

In June 2001, the New York Times featured the Old House Web as a profitable exception to other similar successful sites that are affiliated with large retail stores, magazines, or TV shows.[1] In another instance, Forbes.com included the Old House Web site in its Best of the Web Directory in the home improvement category.[2]
