Only One Direction is an international production and theatre show about English-Irish boyband One Direction.[1][2] The band has performed to hundreds of thousands worldwide.[3][4] In October 2015, Only One Direction - The One Direction Story opened in London's West End.[5]
Formation
Only One Direction, the One Direction Story consists of Matt B (Niall), Matt M (Harry), Henry (Liam), Matt R (Louis) and Jamie aka SEARLS (Zayn).[1] The London-based act have been together since 2012 and were selected from thousands of hopefuls to be the ultimate 1D theatre show. The cast were originally taken from 20 rotating musical theatre performers.[6] Other members include/have included X Factor stars Ryan-Lee Seager (FYD), Andy Fowler (Overload Generation) and Musical Theatre star David Ribi.[7] They represent a new era of jukebox theatre where they are all singers and musicians in their own right.[8][9]
2012 - 2013
Only One Direction formed in early 2012 as the first show in the world to pay tribute to One Direction. The band performed in music venues around the United Kingdom, immediately attracted a lot of interest and were soon performing up to 7 shows a week, quickly establishing themselves in the marketplace as the best One Direction show available.[10]
2014
While performing shows at Dubai's Mall of the Emirates, They received worldwide notoriety after being interviewed by Virgin Radio's Myles Galloway. The band went viral and trended on Twitter after appearing in Newspapers around the world.[11] In 2014, They completed two sell out UK Theatre Tours.[12]
2015
In March 2015, The band appeared on ITV1's This Morning singing Story of my Life.[13] In October 2015, Only One Direction, the One Direction story ran in London's Lyric Theatre.[14] The Lyric theatre in London's West End theatre district explored the One Direction success story with 21 tracks to go along with it, including Only One Direction's debut original single Till We Fall.
