Orin is the English or Americanized phonetic spelling of the Irish given name Odran (traditionally spelled Odhran and more recently Oran). Irish pronounce Odran as o-rawn and o-rin. The name means one of the following in Old Irish:
- dark-haired, derived from the word "otteran", meaning otter in Irish, generally accepted as the correct meaning
- little pale green one
- white, likely Scottish, or
- river, probably confused with the Irish given name Aran which has a similar pronunciation
