PÜR Gum is a brand of aspartame-free gum produced by Action Candy Company Ltd. and founded in 2010 by Jay Klein in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.[2] PÜR Gum is manufactured in Switzerland,[2] distributed in Canada and sold in over 20 countries worldwide.[3] PÜR Gum is also sold through online outlets such as Amazon.[2] PÜR Gum uses the slogan "Kick Aspartame".[2]
History
In 2010[3] entrepreneur Jay Klein aimed to create a chewing gum that was vegan, gluten-free, nut/soy-free, dairy free and allergen free.[3] The result was naturally sweetened PÜR Gum which contains no additives or chemicals and is GMO-free.[2][4] Klein decided to sweeten the chewing gum with Xylitol so it would be a healthy choice for diabetics, pregnant women and any person seeking to avoid chemicals.[2][4]
Klein marketed his product first in Greater Toronto, then the rest of Canada and major U.S. metropolitan areas, where “health hubs” –areas with significant markets for health food products– could be found. However PÜR gum's popularity started to take off after a chain of airport duty-free shops started carrying the product, and the brand gained international popularity that spread virally through airports and other channels. The number of national markets grew from three to six, then ten and finally 25, the current level.[1]
After only three years on the market PÜR Gum sales had been tripling annually.[5]
