Palmetto Health USC Medical Group

Palmetto Health USC Medical Group is the largest and most comprehensive integrated health care system in the South Carolina Midlands region. Beginning on April 1, 2016, Palmetto Health and the University of South Carolina combined in a merger to create the Palmetto Health USC Medical Group. This merger, in the works for many a not-for-profit company that will bring together physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and other health care providers from Palmetto Health and the USC School of Medicine. The company said the group has nearly 500 physicians and advanced care providers, including nurse practitioners and physician assistants, and the medical group’s total employment is 2,200. The group will care for 370,000 patients, according to the news release.[1] Whether providing emergency care, welcoming a baby into the world or mending a heart, their team is dedicated to working together to fulfill their Vision: To be remembered by each patient as providing the care and compassion we want for our families and ourselves. Palmetto Health serves the counties of Anderson, Calhoun, Clarendon, Fairfield, Greenville, Kershaw, Lee, Lexington, Newberry, Oconee, Orangeburg, Pickens, Richland, Spartanburg, Sumter, and the surrounding areas.

Hospitals

Palmetto Health USC Medical Group owns five hospitals in Columbia, Easley, Irmo and Sumter, South Carolina. It also includes several specialty hospitals.
