Pastoral Group

Pastoral Group is the name of a breed Group of dogs, used by kennel clubs (primarily The Kennel Club) to classify a defined collection of dog breeds and does not refer to one particular type of dog. The international kennel club association, the Fédération Cynologique Internationale, does not have a Pastoral Group, and includes most pastoral dogs in Group 1 Sheepdogs and Cattle Dogs (except Swiss Cattle Dogs).[1]

A pastoral breed is any type of dog bred to work livestock. It may refer to herding or guardian type dogs.

The Kennel Club (UK) defines the Pastoral Group as including dog breeds originally kept for "working cattle, sheep, reindeer and other cloven footed animals".[2]
