Promode Mankin (18 April 1939-11 May 2016) was a Bangladeshi Awami League politician and State Minister of Cultural Affairs.[1] He was the first Catholic to become a government Minister in Bangladesh.[2]
Biography
He was born on 18 April 1939 in Mymensingh, Bangladesh. He joined Awami League in 1991. He was the president of Bangladesh Christian Association.[2] He was elected to Parliament from Mymensingh-1 four times.[3] He was a member of the Garo tribe. He fought in the Bangladesh liberation war.[4] His father was Megha Tozu. His mother was Hridoy Cecelia Mankin. On January 29, 1964 he married Momota Areng. They had five daughter and one son.[5] He died on 11 May 2016 at Holy Family Hospital in Mumbai, India.[6]
