Quảng Ninh is a rural district in Quảng Bình Province. The district capital is Quán Hàu. Quảng Ninh borders Đồng Hới to the north, Bố Trạch to the northwest, Lệ Thủy District to the south and South China Sea to the east. Quảng Ninh has an area of 1190.89 km2, population in 2004: 90,000 people. This district has 25 km of seashore and a 35 km border with Laos.[1] The district population: 87,367 (1998), the area: 1190.893 km2. National Route 1A, Ho Chi Minh Highway, Hanoi–Saigon Railway crosses this district. Two main rivers in this district are Nhật Lệ River and Long Đại River.

- 14 communes (xã): Võ Ninh, Lương Ninh, Hải Ninh, Duy Ninh, Vĩnh Ninh, Hàm Ninh, Hiền Ninh, Xuân Ninh, An Ninh, Gia Ninh, Tân Ninh, Vạn Ninh, Trường Xuân, Trường Sơn.
