Rafael Megall (born Rafael Melikyan on January 2, 1983; Armenian: Ռաֆայել Մելիքյան) is an Armenian painter and artist. He is noted for his innovative style of drawing, unique perception of line, color sketches and portrayal of religious iconography of the Armenian miniatures.[1]
Biography
Early life and education
Rafael Megall was born on January 2, 1983 in Yerevan in what was then the Armenian SSR of the Soviet Union. His father Armen Melikyan is a well known doctor (endoscopic surgery). Megall started to paint when he was 9 years old. From 1998 to 2004 he attended the Yerevan State Academy of Fine Arts. His further artistic and creative work opened to his own unique style of painting and visionary artistic philosophy.[2]

In 2012 he received Gold Medal of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Armenia for his services and achievement. In 2013 the President of Armenia gave him the honorary title of Honored Artist of the Republic of Armenia. In 2013 Florence Biennale IX Edition he received The Lorenzo il Magnifico Award in the category of "painting". In 2014 he was granted the "Arshil Gorky" honorable Medal by the Minister of Diaspora of the Republic of Armenia.[3][4][5][6]
