ReachNow is a carsharing service operated by BMW in Seattle, Washington. It uses a mobile app for car reservations and operates a fleet of 520 vehicles.[1] It is one of three carsharing services in the city of Seattle, competing with car2go and Zipcar. ReachNow is similar to another BMW service DriveNow, but is focused on North American cities starting with Seattle.
History
It launched in April 2016 with 370 vehicles.[2] In May 2016, Steve Banfield was named Chief Executive Officer and the company declared that they had reached 13,000 registered members; Car2Go, the main competitor to ReachNow in Seattle, stated they had 77,000 members at the time.[3]
In August 2016, BMW announced that it would expand ReachNow to Portland, Oregon, another mature Car2Go market.[4]
Service area
As of June 2016, ReachNow is only available within a limited area of the city of Seattle, roughly bounded to the north by Northgate Way and to the south by South Orcas Street.[5]
Initially, the service was only offered in Downtown Seattle, Ballard, the University District, Capitol Hill and the Central District. In June 2016, ReachNow announced that service would be expanded to West Seattle, Magnolia, SoDo and Beacon Hill.[5] ReachNow also expanded to serve the Seattle–Tacoma International Airport in August.[6]
Fleet
ReachNow has a fleet of 520 vehicles, coming in 4 models: the BMW 328xi sedan, the electric i3, the Mini Cooper (in both 2-door and 4-door configurations), and the Mini Clubman.[1][5]
