Südwind Agentur

The Südwind Agentur für Süd-Nord Bildungs und Öffentlichkeitsarbeit is an Austrian non-profit NGO focusing on education and campaign work in the international development field. The company, the name of which translates South Wind Agency for South-North Developments and Public Works, has been active since 1997.[1] Since 2002, it has been directed by Helmut Adam.

The company was founded by the Austrian Information Services on Development Policies (ÖIE). Its projects are largely funded by the Federal Ministry for Foreign Affairs and the Federal Ministry for Education, Science and Culture.

Among the agency's primary missions is an emphasis on Global Education, ensuring that the Austrian public is properly educated to interact in a global community through workshops, seminars, exhibitions and primary education outreach. It has also initiated a number of public campaigns on issues of global concern and is currently active in the international Clean Clothes Campaign.

Südwind Magazin

The Südwind Magazin was first published in 1992.[2] It is a monthly German-language magazine run and edited by the Südwind Agentur, though officially released by its mother organization, Verein Südwind Entwicklungspolitik (The Southwind Society for Developmental Politics).[2] The informational magazine focuses on international policy, culture and development. The publication, managed by Rupert Helm and edited by Irmgard Kirchner, has over 8,000 subscribers, mainly limited to German-speaking countries. It is headquartered in Vienna.[2]
