Solomon Woodrow Sponaugle (September 24, 1915 - April 30, 1967) was an American football coach in the United States.
Biography
He was born on September 24, 1915 in Marshall, West Virginia to William Okey Sponaugle and Emma Warner.
Woodrow Sponaugle was the head college football coach for the Franklin & Marshall Diplomats located in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. He held that position for 15 seasons, from 1948 until 1962.[1] His coaching record at Franklin & Marshall was 59 wins, 58 losses and 6 ties. As of the conclusion of the 2010 season, this ranks him #3 at Franklin & Marshall in total wins and #20 at the school in winning percentage (.504).[2] He previously taught at a Lancaster County high school.[3]
He died on April 30, 1967 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania after a long illness.[4][5]
