The Santa Rosa Science and Technology High School is a secondary public science high School located in J.P Rizal Blvd. Barangay Market Area, Santa Rosa City, Laguna, in the Philippines.

History[1]

President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo signed into law the Republic Act 9083, creating the Santa Rosa Science and Technology High School on April 8, 2001. Cong. Uliran T. Joaquin of the First District of Laguna was its principal author.

The law was implemented in the school year 2002-2003 through the initiative and financial support of the local government of Santa Rosa led by Mayor Leon C. Arcillas.

Admissions[2]

Applicant student must belong to the upper 20% of the graduating class, and must not have grades below 85% in subjects such as Mathematics, Science and English as of the second quarter of Grade 6, certified by the principal.

Average score in the Santa Rosa Science Entrance Examinations called STENEX is 85% or above. The STENEX has three stages of screening, namely:

  1. A Mental ability/aptitude Examination
  2. A Proficiency Examination in Mathematics, Science and English
  3. An interview

These are implemented in a step-by-step format; which means that an applicant will be ineligible to be screened in the next stage if he/she fails on the previous stage. The STENEX should be taken only once.

The final selection of first year entrants is also based on the number of slots set for the year by the City Government of Santa Rosa.
